Photography is one of my forms of escape from reality; to disconnect from the pressures of work, health and daily life. It brings me peace, a chance to quiet my mind and create something magical. I value this process as much; if not more than I value the final images.

 

I have two loves in photography, landscapes and light painting. I love capturing landscapes because it has helped me rediscover the outdoors and the beauty in nature. Typically I’m a homebody, but through photography I can find and see amazingly beautiful places, and capture the memory of them with my camera.

 

Light painting is a form of night photography using various light sources to create different effects. These can be captured in seconds, or can take longer than five minutes depending on the effects you’re aiming for. The light painting images in this exhibition were created using torches with pieces of acrylic attached. I love light painting because I can bring something to life made entirely of light, it feels magical to dance around in the dark without worrying about life and just creating.
